YEREVAN. – Instead of speaking about the ongoing violence in Azerbaijan, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has decided to prepare a report entitled “Rise in Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan.”

Armenia’s first Human Rights Defender, “Against Legal Arbitrariness” NGO Executive Director, public activist, and Nagorno-Karabakh expert Larisa Alaverdyan stated the above-said at a press conference on Tuesday. In her view, this is an explicit commerce.

“The name of the PACE report is already bad; there is already a conclusion in it; this is a coarse method. Our MPs are right to say that a crisis in European values has started.

“The name of this report is a weighty argument for us. How can you already detect a rise in violence in Nagorno-Karabakh prior to studying the situation there?” Alaverdyan asked.

According to Armenia’s first ombudswoman, here we are dealing with a conflict of geopolitical interests, where corruption is the “occupation of the weak.”

“[But] I don’t believe we need to accept corruption as an insurmountable obstacle,” Larisa Alaverdyan added.
