YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday received Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Eleni Theocharous, who is also Head of the European Union [EU]-Armenia Friendship Group of the Parliament.

He stressed that such meetings are a good opportunity to discuss the prospects for the development of Armenia-EU relations and to reflect on matters of mutual interest, informed the Press Office of the President.

Sargsyan highly appreciated the activities by the European Union-Armenia Friendship Group, underscored Theocharous’ personal contribution, and thanked all group members for their active, impartial, and consistent work.

The President also highlighted Theocharous’ visits to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR, or Artsakh), and stressed that it is not by the word of mouth that MEP Theocharous forms an understanding about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the people of Artsakh.

Eleni Theocharous, for her part, assured that the European Union-Armenia Friendship Group will continue working actively for the welfare of Armenia and the Armenian nation.
