Vanik Sargsyan, 20, was one of the seven people who lost their lives in Monday’s tragic road accident in Armenia’s Shirak Region.
Sargsyan was a weightlifter competing in the 94 kg weight class, and, two years ago, he had become a winner in the Armenia Weightlifting Championship.
Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that after becoming the champion of Armenia, however, Gyumri city resident Sargsyan had quit weightlifting.
The crash fatality list is as follows: Driver, Razmik Mkrtchyan (born in 1955); passengers, Marine Nazaryan (born in 1959), Aramayis Shirazuni (born in 1954), Vanik Sargsyan (born in 1994), Davit Harutyunyan (born in 1994), Habet Sedrakyan (born in 1962), and Gayane Sedrakyan (born in 1965 ). The last two are spouses.
Seven people in a passenger minibus were burned alive in a tragic road accident on Armenia’s Gyumri-Yerevan highway on Monday evening, as the minibus had crashed into a truck. As a result, the minibus had caught fire, seven passengers were burned alive, and another seven were hospitalized. The Police regional department of investigation has launched a criminal investigation, and the truck driver, M. Vardanyan, is detained.
