YEREVAN. – In all likelihood, the Nairit chemical rubber plant workers will receive one month’s salary on Friday, Nairit Press Secretary Anush Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

She noted that the one-month salary fund of this Armenian capital city Yerevan plant, which does not operate for the past several years, totals about $1 million. 

The government had promised to pay off the entire 12- to 15-month debt by the end of the year, but they have paid nothing so far.

The spokesperson said that Energy and Natural Resources Minister Yervand Zakharyan will visit the plant on Thursday and meet with the staff.  

The Nairit employees’ unpaid wages total $15 million, and these salaries are paid off on the account of the profits of the state-owned energy companies: The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant, and the Vorotan Hydro Power Plant.
