YEREVAN. – Russian solder Valery Permyakov will face prosecution in Armenia, Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan said after consultations hosted by President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday evening.
Kostanyan said he would leave for Gyumri in the morning where he will brief the locals on the criminal case.
Prosecutor General assured that Permyakov would be held accountable, and added that the criminal would face justice in the territory of Armenia and “you will have an opportunity to follow the process”.
Six members of the Avetisyan family, including 2-year-old girl, were shot dead and the six-month-old baby was wounded in their house in Gyumri on Monday. Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the city’s Russian 102nd Military Base, was called the accused in this crime. Permyakov was apprehended by the Russian border guards near the Armenian-Turkish border.
