During the meeting with Armenian Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, President of Belgian Senate Armand De Decker called disappointing the fact that Ankara did not want to move forward in its relations with Yerevan.

In the course of the meeting, Abrahamyan presented Armenia’s approach to the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, RA Parliamentary press service informed NEWS.am. Armenian Speaker stressed that the Armenian side repeatedly stated that the conflict should be settled peacefully based on the negotiations, whereas Azerbaijan hinders the process by voicing warlike statements. Hovik Abrahamyan expressed concern over the fact the world gives no adequate response to Azerbaijan’s actions.

Speaking of the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation, Armand De Decker appreciated high Yerevan’s stance, noting that Turkey’s preconditions on the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, disappointed EU. Unfortunately Turkey started setting the preconditions when it had to ratify the signed Protocols, he added. He also underscored that Belgian parliamentarians always back Armenia and the Genocide resolution adopted Belgium in 1998 testifies to the fact.
