At the June 14 press conference Armenian Energy and National Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan commented on the possible sale of a part of the North-South gas pipeline. “Georgia has not announced its intention to sell the pipeline, it has just been removed from the list of strategic facilities,” he said.

According to him, the decision is conditioned by the fact that the main gas pipeline is not included in the network of other pipelines, which, in their turn, are supplied with gas from the main pipeline.  “Presently the Armenian government is not concerned over the fact. Even if a part of the gas pipeline is put up for sale, it will not create an emergency situation for our country,” Movsisyan stated.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, Georgian ruling party MP Pavle Kublashvili proposed a sale of the gas main.

Speaking in Parliament on July 2, Georgian Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri stated the possibility of putting 10-15 per cent of the gas main shares up for sale at the London Stock Exchange.
