The statement issued by the delegations of the OSCE MG member-states’ foreign offices is mainly identical to the ones made at the Athens summit, in l'Aquila and in Muskoka, Naira Zohrabyan, the Chairwoman of the Commission for European Integration, member of the Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group, told NEWS.am.

"All the statements are based on the following principle: the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved on the basis of the Helsinki final act: nonuse of force, territorial integrity and equal rights and peoples’ right to self-determination," she said.

Zohrabyan is surprised at the fact that the mediator-countries are making a one more attempt to equate Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly when they mention the incident on the contact line, when four Armenian soldiers were killed. The mediators do not specify which side is guilty of the incident.

"I do not think that avoiding concrete assessments of the incident would contribute to a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Any country’s assistance must be expressed by an impartial and sober assessment of the conflicting parties’ steps. However, when Azerbaijan organized the Chailu provocation immediately after the Armenian-Azerbaijani-Russian presidential meeting in Saint Petersburg, the best assistance is a clear attitude to the provoker rather than vague statements," Zohrabyan said.

"It is time for the international community to clearly state its reaction to the Azerbaijani leadership’s warlike statements – be it Aliev, Mammadyarov or anyone else – as they run counter to the statements made by the mediators, Foreign Ministers and Presidents of the OSCE MG Co-Chair countries, namely, there is no alternative to a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Zohrabyan said.
