The Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, on Saturday issued a congratulatory message on Victory and Peace Day, and the anniversary of the Liberation Day of Shushi, in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh).

“Today we welcome the glorious message of May 9, with the hopes of a new life for our Homeland and across the nation, and with bright aspirations for the fulfillment of national desires.

“Seventy years ago today, the good news of peace rang the world, overwhelming with joy and enlightening the souls of our nation’s children, too, who had a heroic participation in the fight against fascism and the crafting of victory [in World War II].

“The Artsakh Liberation War was born also with the same undaunted spirit of patriotism and was crowned with victory, becoming a new page in the heroic and glorious victory of our history,” the Catholicos’ message specifically reads.
