YEREVAN. - Attaching importance to the creation of favorable business environment for Foreign Economic Activity (FEA) participants, Armenia’s Finance Ministry has adopted the policy of introduction and implementation of the Single Window principle in the customs authorities.

According to Finance Ministry, to meet the requirements of import, export and transit, the FEA participants often have to present lots of documents and information to state governmental authorities and often different agencies in many countries. With this respect, according to Mikayel Pashayan, Head of IT Infrastructures Introduction and Development Department at the Ministry of Finance, Single Window is an advanced tool in terms of facilitating FEA functionalities and standardizing information. In the framework of Single Window introduction, a number of measures have been taken by the IT Infrastructures Introduction and Development Department at the Ministry of Finance. Specifically, starting from November 1, 2013, certificates for the introduction of medicines and pharmaceuticals have been provided only electronically by Single Window principle.  

“Starting from May 2015 the Single Window system has been applied for the provision of licenses and certificates for import and export of goods related to food of vegetable and animal origin,” Pashayan said.

Besides, the adaptation of the technical specifications was implemented with regard to the electronic exchange of information on the international transportation of passengers, means of transportation and goods between customs authorities on the Armenian –Georgian border. The WCO Data Model has been selected as data exchange format, Pashayan said.
