YEREVAN. – President of the Russian Railways company, Vladimir Yakunin, had recently stated that the Iran-Armenia railway project has no prospect, reported Zhamanak daily.

‘“It’s the same as you opening a hole in the wall to nowhere; to the wall of the neighboring house,’ he had said.

“[But] Transport and Communication Minister [of Armenia], Gagik Beglaryan, in response yesterday [i.e. Wednesday] to our query about Yakunin’s statement, assured that it [i.e. the Iran-Armenia railway] will be constructed. In fact, despite Yakunin’s statement,” wrote Zhamanak.
