YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday received Natalia Voutova, the new Head of Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

First, the President congratulated Voutova for commencing her mission in Armenia and wished her success.

Sargsyan stressed the CoE’s important place in the overall structural design of Europe. He also noted that Armenia, as a CoE member country, is interested in cooperation with all CoE organizations. In the President’s words, the CoE standards are good benchmarks for Armenia, and the country has achieved some respective results and it endeavors to fulfill its obligations.

The interlocutors shared the view that Armenia, as a CoE member country, actively participates in the activities of this organization in all levels.

The President of Armenia highly praised the CoE assistance to the ongoing democratic reforms in the country. Voutova, for her part, stressed that the CoE supports Armenia in implementing reforms and strengthening democracy in the country.

The new head of CoE Office in Yerevan also praised Armenia’s 2013 chairmanship of the CoE Committee of Ministers. Natalia Voutova expressed the hope that the CoE’s new action plan likewise will be successfully implemented with Armenia.
