YEREVAN. - The three-month program of Yerevan Summer 2015 is another way to draw the attention of the tourists to our country, Maria Baraghamyan, Head of Yerevan Municipality Staff Culture and Tourism Division, told Armenian News – NEWS.am at the opening of “Bread in the Mountains” ritual and holiday food festival carried out in the framework of the aforementioned program (photos).

“These events are also very important for tourism development. The guests are mainly from abroad. We cooperate with travel agencies, and have informed them about the event as well, so that foreigners can attend the event today. Such festivals attract tourists,” she said.  

According to Maria Baraghamyan, Bread in the Mountain Festival aims to maintain and show the best traditions of traditional Armenian cuisine, treating the tourists with them. 

Sedrak Mamulyan, President of Development and Maintenance of Armenian Culinary Traditions NGO, told Armenian News – NEWS.am that the festival is organized better this year.  

“The organization is much better this year; the Municipality supported us as it was very difficult for our organization to organize such an event both in terms of funding and organization,” he said, adding that the festival aims to maintain the national cuisine. 

13 pavilions with traditional national dishes were presented at the Bread in the Mountains Food Festival. Each of the pavilions presented one national holiday with its corresponding dishes. The food was made in front of the guests.

Sassoon national song and dance ensemble, along with Karin and Tarontsiner dance ensembles performed during the event.
