Tens of thousands paid tribute to the memory of Aram Tigran, musician of an Armenian descent, in the Turkish city of Diyarbakir.
According to Bianet, the local authorities, MPs of Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party, as well as the co-chairs of the Democratic Society Union Ahmet Turkand and Aysel Tugluk participated in the event dedicated to the Armenian musician. Renowned Turkish singers performed the songs of Aram Tigran.
Aram Tigran was born on January 15, 1934 in Syria. He was singing in Armenian, Turkish, Kurdish, Arabic, Greek and Assyrian. He wanted to be buried in the Armenian cemetery in Diyarbakir. However, the Turkish authorities did not fulfill his wish. Nevertheless, Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir took soil from the graveyard in Diyarbakir to Brussels where the musician was buried.
