YEREVAN. - Several dozens of the “No to Plunder” initiative members, struggling against electricity price hike, suddenly launched a sit-in at the junction of Mashtots and Amiryan streets in the centre of Yerevan (photos).  

According to the action organizers, the sit-in proved to be spontaneous. They continue holding the photos of the policemen, demanding to punish them for using violence against the protestors and journalists on June 23 and July 6 in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue.

Activist Maxim Sargsyan says the protestors will continue the sit-in unless they receive guarantees from the Prosecutor’s Office on punishing all the guilty policemen.   

On June 23, the Armenian police dispersed by water canon the members of the “No to Plunder” initiative, who were struggling against the electricity price hike. 237 protestors along with journalists were arrested and taken to police departments.
