YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia will carry out a pilot project of drip irrigation.

The project will be implemented by means of the state budget, and on one hectare of land, each, in Aknalich and Shenik villages in the Armavir Province, and in Jrashen and Armash villages in the Ararat Province. 

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Garnik Petrosyan, stated about the aforesaid at a roundtable discussion entitled “Land Resources and Food Safety in the Light of Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Emissions.”

“We have separate lands that are considered to require excessive amount of water, where the amount of water provided by the usual irrigation norms isn’t sufficient to grow agricultural crops,” said Petrosyan “I believe this project will serve as an example to expand it, albeit we already have the example of drip irrigation in some regions today.”

The deputy minister also underscored the construction of reservoirs in Armenia.
