YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA), Galust Sahakyan, on Tuesday received Natalia Vutova, Head of the Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The NA speaker highly assessed the cooperation between the Armenian parliament and the CoE Office in Yerevan, and which has given positive results over the years. In the NA President’s words, Armenia highlights its cooperation with the CoE and its assistance in the ongoing democratic reforms in the country. Sahakyan also highly appreciated the work by the co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

The Armenian parliament leader also expressed the hope that Vutova will continue the consistent activities of the CoE Office in Yerevan, and which are aimed at the further strengthening of Armenia-CoE ties.

Vutova, for her part, stressed the cooperation of the Office with the parliament, and noted that the current key issue of the Office is to assist in the programs being implemented in Armenia.

She also highlighted the work of the CoE Office in Yerevan with the NA standing committees, and stated that all preconditions exist for the enlargement of cooperation with the parliament. She added that the Office observes the passing of expertise opinions presented by her, and the adoption of draft laws and their compliance with the European standards. Vutova informed that, now, the CoE Office in Yerevan works on the amendment of several draft laws of the Criminal and Civil Codes of Armenia, and aiming to raise cooperation at institutional level.

Galust Sahakyan, in turn, wished Natalia Vutova productive work in the fulfillment of her mission.
