The documentary “Remembering the Armenian Massacres” filmed by BBC reporter Lara Petrossian was showcased today in Yerevan’s Media Initiatives Center.  

The film dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was broadcast by BBC WORLD NEWS, BBC NEWS CHANNEL, BBC PERSIAN TV channels. It was also downloaded on BBC Turk YouTube page.  

In the film, Lara Petrossian visits Turkey and tries to find in the former cities of Western Armenia the traces of Armenians who lived there 100 years ago.

Lara Petrossian is joined by BBC Turk reporter Rengin Arslan, who is also concerned about this issue on what actually happened to Armenians who lived in her country hundred years ago. The film also tells about Islamized Armenians who are still concealing the fact that their ancestors were Armenians for fear of physical extermination. Besides Turkey’s city of Eskişehir, where the main film shootings took place, the journalists also worked in Van, Mush, Istanbul and the foot of Mt. Ararat. The film was prepared and shot in seven weeks.

The film is in English, but the author has planned to translate it into Armenian.
