If presently Russia fails to solve the Karabakh problem it may become unresolved in 10 years, former NKR Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan told a press conference on Tuesday. Russia’s time is running out, he added. According to him, Azerbaijan and Turkey are well aware of Russia’s weakening stance on Georgia and try to pressurize it by strengthening their alliance. Turks and Azerbaijanis try to gain as much as possible by means of political pressure, he added.
Melikayn also touched upon the Karabakh issue, stressing that the peace process inspires no optimism. The negotiations promise loss of territories, he noted.
The former NKR official considers that a new process should be launched simultaneously with the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group to take into account the interests of Armenians of Azerbaijan.
“Liberated territories belong to Armenians of Azerbaijan. The lands should be returned to them. They also should be granted citizenship,” he concluded.
