YEREVAN. – American military diplomat Aaron Cummings, who works in the US Embassy of Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, has recently made a proposal of marriage to Armenia resident Perchuhi Kazhoyan, 26, and on top of Mount Ararat, in Turkey.
Kazhoyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that this marriage proposal was a huge surprise for her.
“My dream was always to climb [Mount] Ararat,” she said. “[And] on August 2, we left from Yerevan with a group.”
In Perchuhi’s words, especially the final phase of ascent to Mount Ararat was very difficult for them.
“I had so many emotions that I started crying when I realized that I’m on the top of our [Mount] Ararat, and we’re waving the flag of Armenia,” continued Kazhoyan. “A minute later, Aaron gave the cell phone to my girlfriend to take a picture of us.
“Instead, he stood in front of me, looked into my eyes, and said he wants to spend his life with me.
“Before I realized what was going on, he had already gotten on his knees, and held a ring box in front of me.
“For a moment I couldn’t believe it, [but] then I jumped around, hugged him, and said ‘yes.’”
The couple plan to get married next summer.
