YEREVAN. - Members of “To Ararat with Torches” initiative climbed Mount Ararat on July 26, where they shook out the 100-meter-long Armenian flag, Gagik Ginosyan, initiative member and artistic director of Karin national song and dance ensemble told Armenian News - NEWS.am. The climbing aimed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“We started climbing on July 26, and in the morning of July 29 were already on the top of the mountain. The next day we went to Van castle and Aghtamar Island, visiting [former Armenian cities of] Kars and Ani on our way back,” Ginosyan said.

According to Ginosyan, on the top of Mount Ararat, the climbers danced Armenian dances of Kochari and Yarkhusta, as well as sang patriotic songs, inspiring each other.

30 persons took part in the climbing.
