The crew of a passenger train, which was traveling from Amsterdam to Paris, had left the passengers to the mercy of fate when shooting had started in the train.

All railway employees in the French train had fled and barricaded themselves in the service section.

The incident occurred on Friday. An armed man broke into the train and opened fire. But several passengers—two American military servicemen, a university student, and a British businessman—managed to disarm the attacker. But two of them, including one of the American soldiers, were injured during the altercation.

French authorities have announced that, from now on, luggage will be inspected with metal detectors at all railway stations in the country.
