The UK’s foreign secretary Philip Hammond has discovered graffiti saying “death to England” in the British embassy reopened in Tehran. The phrase in Farsi has been retained under the portait of Queen Elizabeth II since the storming of the diplomatic representatin in 2011.

Restoration specialists will be sent from U.K. to Tehran to cover it up with historically appropriate paint, The Guardian reports.

Technical restoration of the buliding will continue also after the opening.

The British Embassy in Iran reopened on August 23. It was closed in 2011 after the crowd ransacked the embassy compound because of sanctions introduced by London.
