YEREVAN. - The situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is under control, Parliament Vice President and Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told Armenian News – NEWS.am after the Supreme Executive Body session of RPA, referring to the recent exacerbation of tension on the border.
According to him, Azerbaijan is running an unacceptable and condemnable policy aimed at the breakdown of the negotiation process. “The format acceptable for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh is the exclusively peaceful normalization of the conflict in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group,” Sharmazanov said.
He confirmed that the Armenian Armed Forces are controlling the situation on the border. According to him, the rural areas, which have incurred losses, will apparently receive help, since living in the border villages is already heroism.
“Azerbaijan bears responsibility for each loss, regardless of whether from the Armenian or Azerbaijani side,” Sharmazanov said. In his words, Azerbaijan has serious problems in its domestic policy and by exacerbating the tension on the border, the Azerbaijani authorities perhaps want to draw the attention of their own population to the Karabakh conflict.
