YEREVAN. - Armenian police have issued a statement on the protest against the electricity price hike, giving time to the protestors till 5:00 a.m. to open the blocked Baghramyan Avenue (photos).

The statement reads, in part:

“Armenian police states that the march to Baghramyan Avenue, as well as the continuous blocking of the area meant for driving is illegal, since these actions disproportionally hinder the public interest. Besides, the Armenian police find it necessary to mention that the assembly isn’t spontaneous, since the authorized body has enough information regarding its previously organized nature.

…Armenian police gives 6 (six) hours to the organizers of the illegal assembly for expressing their demand and opening the illegally blocked Baghramyan Avenue till 5:00 a.m, September 12, given that the assembly continues to bear a peaceful nature.”
