The crane which crashed on the pilgrims in Mecca’s Grand Mosque belongs to a German crane company operated by the Bin Laden family's consortium, Daily Mail reports.

Saudi BinLaden Group owned by Osama Bin Laden's family, is currently implementing a £14billion project on the expansion of the Holy Mosque. According to the project plan, after the renovation the Mosque can accommodate up to 2.2 million people at once, RIA Novosti reports.

Saudi BinLaden Group was founded by Osama Bin Laden's billionaire father Mohammed in 1931. They concluded a large number of building contracts in Saudi Arabia.   

The tragic incident took place Friday. According to the latest information, the crashed crane claimed 107 lives, resulting 238 injured people.
