Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) is facilitating the terms of temporary import of personal vehicles to the territory of EEU member-states.

The decision of the EEC Board “On several issues of temporary import of vehicles for personal use,” which will facilitate the arrival of cars to the territory of EEU states, will come into force on September 19, as reported by EEC press-service.  

The EEC Board decision of 18 August 2015 revokes the responsibility of the customs authority to set the primary deadline for the temporary import of vehicles for up to 3 months. The decision will allow excluding the necessity to address the customs authority. Besides, the deadline for the temporary import will have to be set considering each individual case, depending on the length of the citizens’ stay in the EEU territory. The deadline for the EEU citizens and foreigners will be six months and one year respectively.

Besides, the EEU Board decision stipulates that the vehicles can be taken out of the EEU territory without customs duties even in case the temporary import deadline is expired.

Analogous approaches will also relate to the means of transportation which have already been taken out of the EEU territory: no payment will be needed in case they are taken out.
