Armenia is ranked 61st in the Global Innovation Index 2015  co-published by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The GII surveys 141 economies around the world, using 79 indicators to gauge both innovative capabilities and measurable results.

Armenia  is listed among the countries of Northern Africa and West Asia, and together with Jordan (75th) continues to outperform on innovation with respect to their level of development.

According to the report, Armenia, from the lowermiddle-income group, was both an innovation achiever and a pillar outperformer in all seven pillars during 2012–14. Armenia is making considerable efforts to strengthen its innovation system, which has become one of the strategic priorities of the Armenian authorities.

Armenia together with ten developing countries (, China, Georgia, India, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, the Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Uganda, and Viet Nam) are labelled ‘innovation outperformers’.

Among other regional countries, Turkey is ranked 58th, Georgia is 73rd and Azerbaijan is 93rd.

Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United States of America are the world’s five most innovative nations, while the worst is Sudan.
