Turkish court does its utmost to exclude disclosure of real instigators and organizers of Hrant Dink’s assassination, Turkish historian Halil Berktay said in an interview with RFE/RL.

According to him, protracted trial on Hrant Dink’s case is not a farce but something very close to it. He noted that Turkish Foreign Ministry is also sending response to the European Court of Human Rights, labeling ministry’s actions as obsession and disgrace.

Another Dink’s friend Murat Belge, literary critic and Bilgi University professor considers that Turkey also has problems with its history. Presently, real Turkish intellectuals think that the country should recognize the Armenian Genocide, he noted. “The more we are speaking, the more aggressive are Genocide deniers. We cannot expect the situation will change in the near future,” Bege said.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, several days ago Turkish press reported that the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has found Turkey guilty of failing to prevent the murder of Editor of the Agos daily Hrant Dink and properly conduct an investigation to disclose the crime. It was noted that the Court verdict will be published in the press this September.

Hrant Dink was accused of violating notorious Article 301 of the Turkish criminal code, “insulting Turkishness,” which set the scene for the murder. As it turned out later, both police and gendarmerie were well informed of the planned crime.

During his visit to Baku the Turkish President stated the Government had not taken necessary measures to prevent the crime. A few days later he invited Dink’s brother to his residence.

Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu tried to justify himself by stating he had not been informed of or signed the speech for the defense the Turkish Government sent to the European Court. In that document Dink was described as a neonazi.
