YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) is committed to providing €23 million to Armenia, as business development support.

New Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, said the abovementioned at Monday’s opening of ArmTech Congress ’15, the 8th Global Armenian High Tech Business Conference, in capital city Yerevan.

In Świtalski’s words, the EU will provide access for Armenia to two major EU projects, whose amount totals around €80 billion.

“One of them is the enterprises’—particularly the SMEs’ [i.e. the small and medium-sized enterprises’]—development program, and the other is [the] Horizon 2020 [Programme for Research and Innovation],” stressed the EU ambassador. “The other requirement is ensuring favorable conditions for foreign investments. We need to see to it that these companies feel at home [in Armenia].

“The EU stands ready to provide cash assistance to enterprises, especially to small enterprises [of the country]. 

“We will assist so that more foreign investors come to Armenia from the EU countries as well as other regions.”
