YEREVAN. – First Vice President of Iran, Eshaq Jahangiri’s current visit to Armenia cannot be considered an ordinary event, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“The parliament of Iran ratified the agreement on lifting the international sanctions against this country.

“Iran will [now] attempt to not only restore its positions in the region, but also to increase it, becoming a major regional player. And the visit to Armenia by Iran’s first vice president, the de facto prime minister of this country, should be viewed in this respect.

“Of course, Armenia is of great importance for Iran in the matter of acquiring a new regional status. But the question is whether Armenia will be able to take advantage of this situation and get the maximum possible,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
