YEREVAN. - The Armenian government realizes that the accuracy of results in December 6 constitutional amendments referendum requires open and inclusive debates, which are ensured, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills told Armenian News – NEWS.am today.

Referring to the campaign on constitutional amendments and the fact that the Armenian opposition is insisting on the absence of equal rights, the Ambassador said they think the government must ensure the opportunity of open discussions and full-fledged dialogue regarding the constitutional amendments. According to him, both sides have the opportunity to present their standpoints. The Ambassador also noted that the Embassy is closely following the situation and is continuing to keep in touch with civil society institutions, hearing their stance to find out whether their equal opportunities are ensured.

Armenian referendum on constitutional amendments will be held in Armenia on December 6. According to the draft constitutional amendments, the country must switch to the parliamentary form of governance.
