Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to sign an agreement with Armenia, and with respect to setting up a joint regional air defense system in the Caucasus region of the Collective Security.

The respective document is posted on the legal information website, reported Vzglyad, a Russian online newspaper.

The said joint air defense system of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries—which includes Armenia—has been operating for more than twenty years.

The task of this system is to ensure the security of the airspace of the member states, and to jointly force back a possible aerospace attack.
