YEREVAN. – The topic of making territorial concessions in the context of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was not discussed during the talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Armenian leadership, within the framework of Lavrov’s visit to Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

Representatives of the Embassy of Russia in Yerevan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, and in response to our respective query. 

The embassy representatives noted that Lavrov, during his talks in Yerevan, had conferred on the current phase in the avenues for a pacific settlement to the Karabakh conflict, and in the context of the relevant efforts by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries (US, Russia, and France).

Haykakan Zhamanak and Zhoghovurd dailies of Armenia as well as Kommersant newspaper of Russia had written—citing their anonymous sources—that Sergei Lavrov had come to Armenia to convince the country’s leadership to return to Azerbaijan several territories contiguous to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and which are considered a security zone.
