YEREVAN. – The development of Armenian-Iranian cooperation in education has great potential. 

The Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan, noted the aforesaid at his talk Monday with newly appointed Iranian Ambassador Seyed Kazzem Sajjadi.

The Ministry of Education and Science informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that, first, the minister congratulated the ambassador for commencing his diplomatic mission in Armenia and wished him productive work.

“We [i.e. Armenia] highly evaluate our relations with Iran in education and science,” Ashotyan added.

Ambassador Sajjadi, for his part, said although Armenian-Iranian relations are developing with dynamism in numerous domains, cooperation in the field of education is always a priority.

At the ensuing talk, the parties reflected on the new opportunities for implementing bilateral education programs.

The diplomat noted that Iran is interested in the student exchange programs between the two countries. The minister, in turn, stated that Armenia looks toward having more Iranian students in the country. In Ashotyan’s words, the country also stands ready to convey to Iran its track-record on integration into the European Union programs on education.

In addition, the interlocutors discussed the process of mutual recognition of the Armenian and Iranian education documents as well as the chances of teaching the Iranian language and culture in the schools in Armenia. 

Armen Ashotyan and Seyed Kazzem Sajjadi also reached agreement on organizing mutual visits.
