To bring back the trust between the two countries, Turkey should apologize to Russia for the downed Su-24, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvieynko told the journalists today.  

During the international conference in Ashgabat, presidents of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan expressed hope for the normalization of relations between Russia and Turkey.

“Turkey made an act of aggression against the Russian Federation: this is a crime,” Matviyenko said.

According to her, Russia expected an adequate response and reaction from the Turkish side over the incident. She noted that the “responsibility should be born by the attacker.” “And I think the time will come when the Turkish leadership sobers up and gives relevant assessment to the incident, apologizing to Russia for the incident,” Matviyenko said.  

In her words, not only Russia but also its CIS partners are concerned over the situation and nobody wants another tension given the situation in the world.

“We can’t forgive what happened without a relevant adequate reaction from Turkey. In any case this will remain as a big scar in our relations. But, certainly, we must look for ways,” the Speaker said, RIA Novosti reports.
