A number of Van NGOs are concerned over the decision putting off the installation of a cross on Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church. They discussed the situation.
The Gercekgundem website reports that Chairman of the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zahir Kandasoglu made a speech on behalf of the Van NGOs. He pointed out that their disappointment at the Turkish authorities’ decision.
Mr. Kandasoglu pointed out the importance of the liturgy both for the state and for the province. “What is the reason for the problem? Why has not the cross been installed so far?” he asked.
According to Kandasoglu, the Turkish Ministers’ Council permitted the installation of a cross, but technical problems have to be solved.
