RA Ambassador to Armenia Grigor Arakelyan held a meeting September 9 with Commerce Minister of Iran, Dr Mahdi Ghazanfar.

The press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed NEWS. am that the sides pointed out high-level trade and economic relations between the states.

The sides were of the unanimous opinion that the bilateral trade can be doubled and even tripled as soon as relevant legal underpinnings are created. The Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission can contribute to this process. Ambassador Arakelyan informed Minister Mahdi Ghazanfar of the expected mutual visits and joint projects.

Dr Mahdi Ghazanfar underlined the importance of bilateral trade cooperation and proposed forming a permanent committee at the level of ministers or deputy ministers of trade. He also proposed the opening of large Iranian companies’ offices in Armenia and organization of special exhibitions by means of chambers of commerce and industry.
