YEREVAN. - 2015 was the most difficult year for the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), the February events becoming a serious force majeure. Party Leader Naira Zohrabyuan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.   

Referring to the aforementioned events, after which the PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan resigned from politics, and the leadership was taken by Naira Zohrabya, the latter said: “Very difficult months have passed; even the majority of our ordinary party members couldn’t imagine how difficult everything was for the political staff, when each next day is unprecedented.” At the same time, she assured that thanks to its strong pillars, the party was able to overcome the force-majeure.

Responding to the question on whether she agrees with the opinion that they managed to overcome the force-majeure only thanks to finding a common language with the authorities, specifically through supporting the constitutional amendments, Zohrabyan said:  “The political culture in Armenia is so corrupted and distorted, that any mutual concession is perceived as betrayal and bribery. I communicate a lot with the representatives of European political parties, and they consider it normal to agree with the authorities in certain issues.”

To the opinion that these very authorities forced PAP leader to resign from politics and precluded the active political struggle of the whole party, Zohrabyan responded: “We haven’t started cooperation, but realized that we must change the rules of the game. If the practice shows that during the last 20 years the opposing forces disappeared or turned into religious sects and that it’s not possible to come to power through street struggle, there is no point in moving by the same path.  If they are playing chess with you, you can’t attack them by an axe but try to win them by the rules of the game proposed by themselves. The change of power is [still] on our agenda; We have just changed our tactics.”
