Turkey plans to set up a visa regimen with Azerbaijan, the latter’s media reported. 

According to the respective press release, this procedure will be in force also with Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Tajikistan. 

The said visa requirement will take effect in June.

Consular section of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed Haqqin.az news agency of Azerbaijan that Turkey’s starting of a visa regimen is a requirement by the European Union (EU).

“Turkey will  assume a non-visa regimen with the EU this fall,” the Turkish MFA explained. “And one of the [respective] requirements of the European Union was the introduction of a visa regimen with the countries that do not have such an agreement with the EU.”
