YEREVAN. – Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan on Friday received Transportation Minister of Russia Maksim Sokolov, who is also Russian Co-Chair of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, informed the Press Office of the Government of Armenia.
The Armenian PM and the Russian transport minister discussed the avenues for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries. Also, they highly assessed the respective activities by the aforesaid commission.
In the context of having closer trade and economic ties, the interlocutors conferred on the prospects for the implementation of regional infrastructure projects.
The Russian side underscored the Armenia-Iran railway construction, and expressed willingness to explore its possible participation in this project.
In addition, Abrahamyan and Sokolov discussed the feasible options for accelerating customs clearance of cargo and vehicles at the Upper Lars checkpoint, on the Russian-Georgian border.
