YEREVAN. - Armenian economy needs loans in ruble. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Mikayel Melkumyan, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary Commission on Economic Affairs, told the aforesaid to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

According to him, loans in ruble can ensure the exporters from Armenia to Russia from currency risks. This will relieve them from currency variance between incomes in ruble and dollar obligations (most often) on loan. But attracting amounts for such loans is a risk, and commercial banks won’t go for them on their own.  They need to be ensured by the regulators of both countries. “The amount of rubles which Armenia can need is very small according to the estimates of Russia. Thus, political decision and actions of central banks are needed,” Melkumyan said.
