Istanbul Armenian Garo Paylan, who is a Turkish parliament member from the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) of Turkey, called on the country’s authorities to end the use of national and religious affiliation markings in the Turkish passports and identification cards.

Paylan, speaking at the parliament, said he was constantly subjected to religious discrimination during his dealings with the state-run agencies of Turkey, ever since his childhood, reported Demokrathaber website of the country.

“When I was going to any state institution and they were seeing there in my identification card that I’m a Christian, they used to begin discriminating [against me],” he noted.
