YEREVAN. – We seek to make the Armenian commanders the Man of the Year.
The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, noted the above-said at Monday’s ceremonial meeting in the Armenian peacekeeping brigade, and in connection with the start of the new academic year at the Armed Forces of Armenia.
“It’s no wonder that for 2016, by declaring the year of preparedness of the commanding unit, we seek to make Man of the Year the Armenian commander, owing to whom (…) we can complement the series of leading armies [in the world], not lag behind them, and ensure the creation of peace of the Armenian people,” Ohanyan stated. “We have done a lot of work to raise the standing of our army, [and] gained the trust of our people.
“Today, our soldiers are performing heroism on the frontline, just as during the Artsakh [i.e. Nagorno-Karabakh] liberation war.
“First and foremost, we carry out a peacekeeping mission on our borders. It is this very track-record which enables us to have successes in different parts of the globe, [and] prove to the leading armies of the world that we are no different from them.”
