YEREVAN. – There is no major risk of resumption of war over Nagorno-Karabakh, Caucasus Institute Director, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan, said at a press conference on Tuesday.

In his words, when it comes to Azerbaijan, we are dealing with a completely different country.

“Present-day Azerbaijan has limited resources,” Iskandaryan noted. “The international organizations are becoming more and more critical of Azerbaijan’s human rights abuses, and [its] persecution of journalists and bloggers.”

But the analyst added that Azerbaijan can be precarious for Armenia, in terms of uneasiness at the border. 

“There may be tension. Moreover, it definitely will happen,” Alexander Iskandaryan said. “Azerbaijan has rational reasons for organizing sabotage attacks. But I don’t think that this would turn into an all-out war.”
