The first round of talks over issues of trade and investment to be included in new Armenia-EU framework agreement has kicked off.

Representatives of country’s social and economic agencies, Central Bank and other institutions, headed by Armenian First Deputy Economy Minister Garegin Melkonyan, take part in the talks. 

The EU delegation is led by Petros Sourmelis, head of Russia, CIS, Ukraine, Western Balkans, EFTA, EEA and Turkey Unit.

The talks concern measures in trade defense, defense of IP rights, economic competition, state procurements, capital transfer, investment cooperation and investment protection.

Apart from plenary sessions, over dozens of meetings between negotiation subgroups are scheduled, during which draft texts on specific sectors will be discussed.
