The pregnant Yerevan woman’s trip to her relatives in Russia’s Tula had an unexpected end. Together with her husband and 3-year-old daughter, the woman was heading for Region-71 from Krasnodar by train.

While on the way to Kursk, she suddenly began to give birth, Gudok writes.

The train guard called ambulance to the station, but the baby was in a hurry to draw its first breathe, and the third-call sleeper where the woman was thus quickly turned into an improvised delivery room. Part of the carriage was fenced off with sheets. The passengers treated the situation with understanding and tried to do their best to help. They particularly entertained the woman’s small daughter to distract her attention from the happening.  

The train master, who hadn’t faced such a situation in his working practice before, tried to find out whether the doctors could reach the train faster. But there turned out to be no other approach roads besides the Kursk station. Fortunately, there was a woman doctor among the patients. Of course, she had never delivered a baby before either: the woman was a laboratory assistant and a bacteriologist. Nevertheless, her knowledge proved necessary.

The Kursk doctors later said the baby girl was 2 kg 700 g and was brought to them in good condition.
