YEREVAN. - Armenian Ombudsman candidate Armen Tatoyan served the interests of the authorities in front of the European legal organizations.

Opposition “Heritage” party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan stated the aforesaid in the National Assembly today at the debate on Tatoyan’s candidacy.

“He says he hasn’t been in politics. But two years ago he worked on excluding by all means the record on political persecutions in the international reports on Armenia. The illegal arrests and criminal charges didn’t reach the European Court.  And now that we ask him whether there are people in Armenia who are persecuted for their convictions, he responds that he must investigate specific cases. How can the human rights defender’s candidate not have an opinion on such an issue?” Postanjyan stated.
