YEREVAN. - The interpersonal struggle in Armenia’s policy will be substituted by a struggle of opinions.

The National Assembly (NA) Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also the spokesperson of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), stated the aforesaid in the NA today.

According to him, the policy speech of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also the RPA leader, made on February 12 was very important and thoroughly justified the necessity of reforms in all spheres.

The importance of evolutionary and not revolutionary reforms was underscored. Besides, it was noted that Armenia has no alternative to democratic freedoms and pluralism, he said.

In Sharmazanov’s words, with the shift to the parliamentary republic, the role of the parties will significantly grow.

“We deny the struggle between persons. Instead, we are for free and public debate, as a result of which our society will have an opportunity to form a clear idea about the activity and ideas of each party,” he said.
