YEREVAN. – The refugee problem is a global problem, whose consequences go beyond the borders of countries. 

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ashot Hovakimian, on Wednesday stated the aforesaid speaking at a workshop.  

He recalled that Armenia has accepted refugees from the very beginning of the Syrian conflict.

“[But] despite cooperation between Armenia and various international institutions, the international community’s attention [paid] toward the problems of Syrian refugees is not enough,” Hovakimian stressed. “All of them sense a need for protection and assistance.”

The deputy FM added that Armenia has recently become a member in the Executive Committee of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and noted that this is an important platform for the country.
